Sylvie Huhn

School of Library and Information Management (SLIM)

Emporia State University - (Distance Learning Program) - Portland, OR

SLIM Cohort #15 - MLIS, 2016

My interests in library science include reference, academic libraries, art libraries, historical records of Portland, medical archives, and the role librarians can play in information accessibility for those with learning disabilities.

In addition, I have an educational background in fine art - the portfolio for my work can be found here: http://sylviedakotahuhn.com

During my two years at SLIM, I have worked three student jobs at the UO Portland Library and Learning Commons, City of Portland Archives and Record Center, and Oregon Health & Science University Historical Collections & Archives.  Currently, I am working part-time as a Public Services Lead at the Mt. Hood Community College Library with the potential of getting trained at the Reference Desk once my MLIS degree is complete.  Involvement in the workplace has certainly enchanced my learning experience as a graduate student.

Overall, I am extremely grateful for the friends I made during the term class gatherings.  This academic portfolio provides examples of assignments that support Emporia State University's SLIM program outcomes and professional values.
