            9th grade - As a jazz camp pianist, participated in jazz band and performed in small jazz combo recital. Clarinetist in the Wind Ensemble. (Auditions required for both groups.) Selected to perform on clarinet in a chamber ensemble (flute, clarinet, oboe) at Eisenhower Auditorium.

            10th grade - Clarinetist in Concert Band. Selected to perform in clarinet quartet at chamber ensemble concert. Classical Piano Camp participant (Timothy Shafer; audition tape and recital required).

            11th grade - 1st chair 1st clarinetist in both Orchestra (Gerardo Edelstein) and Concert Band (Dennis Glocke). Selected to perform on clarinet in chamber ensemble quintet (flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, horn).

 

1st clarinet at 2004 PMEA District Band under direction of Dr. William Stowman.

 

1st chair 1st clarinetist at 2004 PMEA Regional Band under direction of Dr. Peter L. Boonshaft.

 

1st clarinet at PMEA All-State Concert Band, 2004, Erie, PA, under direction of Dr. Stephen Gage.

 

Member of State College High School Symphonic Band (selected by annual audition 10th-12th grades). Participated in adjudication festivals in Ocean City, Maryland (2003), Toronto, Canada (2004), and Virginia Beach, Virginia (2005) with superior rating attained in each.

 

July 19-20, 2004 - Participated in master classes, orchestral excerpt sessions, repertoire classes with piano, and private lessons from Dr. Spencer Pitfield (Purcell School of Music, London, and member of the Glinka Trio) and Dr. John Cipolla (Western Kentucky University and Principal Clarinetist, Radio City Music Hall and Bowling Green Chamber Orchestra) at the University of Maryland's Clarinet Connection conference for advanced high school clarinetists.

 

July 21-25, 2004 - Participated in the International Clarinet Association's ClarinetFest 2004 at the University of Maryland, attending master classes, clinics, lectures, concerts, and recitals by world-renowned clarinetists. Practiced and performed with college-level clarinet choir under the direction of Dr. Charles West, VirginiaCommonwealthUniversity.

 

September 2004 through May 2005 - Selected by audition as solo clarinetist in the Central Pennsylvania Youth Orchestra under the direction of Alex Hill.

 

1st chair 1st clarinetist in the 2005 PMEA District Band Festival directed by Dr. O. Richard Bundy.

 

1st chair clarinet in the 2005 PMEA Regional Band Festival directed by Dr. Jason Worzbyt.

June 7, 2005 - Senior Graduation Project under the direction of Richard Victor, State College Area High School: a lecture-recital on the history of the clarinet as a solo instrument in various genres of music (classical, jazz, Klezmer, avant-garde modern music).

Attended a master class with Mark Nuccio, New York Philharmonic.

 

May 11-24, 2006 – Toured with the Lehigh Philharmonic Orchestra throughout South Africa. Performed as percussionist after receiving lessons from James Thoma in Carmina Burana with the Johannesburg Symphony Choir and on clarinet with both the orchestra and clarinet choir. Performed with the Lehigh Philharmonic at Stellenbosch University and with the clarinet choir at St. Georges’ Cathedral in Capetown.

 

August 9-13, 2006 – Attended performances, lectures, and master classes at the International Clarinet Association’s ClarinetFest 2006 in Atlanta, Georgia and performed with the college clarinet choir.

 

May, 2007 – Rehearsal pianist for one week, Damn Yankees.

 

December, 2006 – Performed on E flat clarinet with the Lehigh University Wind Ensemble for CD recording of period music, Jamestown 1607-2007, commissioned for the 2007 Jamestown Jubilee.

 

June 17-30, 2007 – Received scholarship to perform at Music Naturally Summer Festival, Pennsylvania Academy of the Arts.

 

April 20, 2008 - Junior Recital, clarinet, at Zoellner Arts Center, Lehigh University.

            Taught clarinet lessons as needed to undergraduate students. Lectured and graded Music History exams and essay questions. Graded and participated in online discussion groups. Edited a course website in the D2L program so that it included a way for students to ask me questions online. Held review sessions for final exams. Tutored a Russian ESL student in music history. Emailed and phoned clarinet studio students as needed. Organized performances in the clarinet studio and sent reminder emails about performances. Made photocopies of music as needed. Reserved rooms for music group rehearsals. Set up projectors, laptops, and sound systems for music history classes and chairs and music stands for rehearsals and performances. Designed a poster for a chamber music concert. Distributed a bulk mailing of invitations for a summer music camp.
