LI804: Organization of Information
In LI804, I learned about various methods and classification systems of organizing information in a library setting. We studied metadata, encoding, FRBR, RDA, access, authority, and vocabulary control, and subject analysis. We even got to practically apply our learning to create our own organizational scheme for a subject of our choice. Finally, we got to choose a method of organization to research and write a literature review.
Artifact: Literature Review
This assignment was completed in five steps: choose a topic, create an annotated bibliography, identify themes and patterns in the literature, draft a literature review, and revise the final literature review. My topic was how a library’s organization is different from a bookstore’s organization and how the two could ultimately learn from each other.
